Only problem with Pods is, as convienent as that machine might be, pods aren't strong enough, espresso is supposed to be strong.

Looks good. Only problem with pods is they aren't any fresher than other pre-ground coffee, but still good.

I was in a cafe recently and someone ordered a decaf skinny chai latte. I had to think a bit to imagine the taste. All I can say is it couldn't be worse than International Roast!

I can understand someone on a diet wanting to reduce their intake of full fat milk, but I have never understood fanatical foodies who eliminate this and that from their diet like some kind of religion. You sit down and have a very expensive coffee (getting close to 5 bucks in Aus ) and someone deprives themselves of half a cup of full fat milk I just dont get it. If the rest of their diet is healthy a little treat now and again wont make a jot of difference.
My friend in the UK is a Vegan, all good his choice, we discussed it a while back and I asked him a few questions.. I eat meat, my choice, but I said to him that I totally understand why he would not want to eat meat, taking a life for food etc etc. I also get the no milk and cheese thing ,I love Italian cheese but I get his point, milk comes from a cow and dairies are not the most humane places and we are talking the cows milk etc etc. Then I asked him why no eggs?
He said that every egg was a potential life.
Then I said not if there is no rooster present, then the egg is just like a hen period and waste. He did not reply and did not come up with a better reason but still wont eat any eggs. He did later say about cruel egg farming practices and I asked if he would eat an egg from a chicken wondering free round a farm yard he still said no. This the egg thing is fanatical foodies the rest the meat milk and cheese I do get it even though I could never do it.

    Hi Chris

Its worse than that, it is only about 2% of their half cup of milk, something along the lines of 2mL of fat in over 100mL emulsion of whey. (although the septics use cream or 50:50 milk:cream where the fat content is higher)

We could debate the rest of your rant, but I'm not getting into avian biology today.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

My point, and yes without furthering the egg topic a bird period was a bit rubbish (especially as I am a biologist) an unfertilized egg is just that it can never become a chick. I was trying to make an analogy to humans. Anyway my point was too many people set themselves food limits with no valid reason (like the skimmed milk). Another friend has developed a skin problem in which his immune system is attacking his skin, not good at all.. The doctors and specialist have him on the required treatment but he has started seeing a herbalist who has been telling him how he needs to cleanse his system and do without all sorts random foods. Non of this nonsense has made the slightest difference. He has given up Jersey milk and gone over to skimmed as part of this daft regime so now he still has his skin problem and has less fun at dinner time too..

that's the point of my earlier post. fat is not the main reason you get fat. Carbs are why you get fat.

the fat you save in skinny milk is replaced by boosting the carb's in the milk.

so in effect skinny milk makes you fatter

No excess calories (or kilojoules) are why you get fat.

Gramme for gramme fats have more than twice the calories (9/gm) of carbohydrates (4/gm). Energy requirements of the body are provided by carbohydrates and excess carbohydrates are converted into fats for storage, because they are more efficient and stable as storage mediums. Fats consumed in food, unless broken down to carbohydrates and consumed as energy, remain as fats and are stored. (Breaking down fats requires additional energy), carbohydrates consumed in food are used as energy and the excess converted to fat and stored.

Therefore replacing 1/2 cup of full cream milk in your latte and replacing it with 1/2 cup of skim milk will reduce the caloric intake by about 29 calories.

The muffin you eat with your morning coffee likely has between 300 and 600 calories, overwhelming any savings on skim milk. So why bother!
