Here is the scoop

BEFORE PC or Mac, I had a typist pool or secretary. Reports were written in a day or so.
NOW with PC or Mac it takes me a fortnight to write a report

BEFORE PC or Mac, I was lucky to use 1 or 2 pads of lined A4 paper a week.
NOW with PC or Mac I use around 4-5 reams of A4 a week.

BEFORE PC or Mac, I rarely screamed at my typist or pencil
NOW with PC or Mac I scream at them hourly

BEFORE PC or Mac, I never spent $148.00 a month on pencils
NOW with PC or Mac I spend that easily on toner cartridges

But the upshot is......
life is sweeter now we have both PC and Mac

regards
Ralph

Yep have had a look and quite enjoyed it. Lots of work there. I'll have to ask you one day just how you did it, how many cameramen, how long did it take, etc.

I'll send you a PM with some suggested spelling corrections

Hi p38arover, i have just had this discussion with Outlaw

Contrary to my postings about the Macs, I do like them or I should say I use to like them but I have wasted so much time trying to get my rubbish going that I finally spat the dummy out just before Christmas and have not had the patience to start them up again.

Now here's the thing, after our little drive the other day, I watched the video and it was crap.

The camera had taken good pictures but the mount resulted in too rough a ride and shook the camera too much.

So I developed a better test mount to try, which I did today.

BUT to mount the camera where I want it, I actually have to mount the camera UP-SIDE-DOWN.

This meant cranking up the Mac and after spending about an hour or so I finally got the thing to work a LITTLE better. Anyway, I flipped the video right side up and it works great. Now I will make a more rigid mount, I hope, for use on Sunday.

If I can get the time I will try and get back into doing the rail videos and and will try and use the DVD side of it.

I have to have a supply of vellum handy before I start.

That video I sent you took me about 4 years to gather the footage I needed. I ended up with enough for two videos so one of the days I’ll do another one based on freight operations in and Border Loop but it will be DVD only.

Cheers.

Hi Ralph1Malph, things might have been better before PC and Mac, but I bet you couldn’t slap your secretary around.

Hmmmm,,, How odd..... Been using Macs since 94 for editing commercials and corporates running Media 100, AVID and After Effects. Quark and Photoshop for publishing and never had any probs. But judging by your comments, my long overdue upgrade to OSX may be probelmatic.

Hi Quiggers, I have two G3 macs running OS 8.6 and one is fitted up with a Radius card. These two comps have been great.

I got my first Mac, a 512k back in 1987 and I also have had at least one PC in the office since 1988 but I only used the PCs for tasks that could not be done on a mac ( and the are quite a few of them ) but up until December last year my use ratio would have been about 1 hour on the PCs for every 50 hours on the Macs. The problem is that since changing to new G4s and OSX, 40 of that 50 hours has been trying to get the ICraps to work.

Anyway enough of my bitching, cheers

PS the two G3s are still operating on OS 8.6 and still working well.
