Thumbs down Go Get can go and get.....

Why are you holding onto your old clunker? - GoGet Carshare

So I spotted this article by Go Get (car sharing company), ragging on against old cars, and noticed that they had decided to use the picture of a Series 3 interior that was rather cobweb ridden.

I got to thinking, surely an older vehicle will create much less pollution (assuming it is well maintained) than creating a whole new car?

I dislike the assumption that is made in the article that owners of older cars don't maintain them properly. I see plenty of cars less than 5 years old with one headlight, worn tyres (especially FWD cars), missing tail lamps etc.

The car share theory isn't a bad one though... Totally useless for my environment but suited to inner city...

The implications on older cars being unsafe, lacking maintenance etc is amusing...

Although I doubt many here can claim to repair any and all oil leaks

Hey I fix all the oil leaks I know about, just not always in a quick manner or if they're on my own car.

besides do you know how frustrating it is do do a full oil change when you can jut add in a liter every fortnight or so it saves so much effort and cost on disposing of the old oil

All the comments pretty much give the article a hammering .
And if i didnt have to work on my old car i'd have all this spare time and probably end up a crack addict.

Whilst I generally detest mechanical abuse, I'd see their fa66y little buzz boxes as a go anywhere, at any speed, baja winning mobile rubbish bin. All that 'let's share everything, no possessions, live in a commune with butterflies and find myself' crap makes me wanna puke.

Yes, yes, I know it makes sense for the inner city $500k studio apartment dwellers..... I just hate people hanging dung on 'old' cars

Don't despair, many people can't find their own arse. How do you share no possessions?

They have had these in London for years . Are always going to take off and become popular next year. If you hang in there long enough it might even come true.

One of the problems they have is that it seems the drivers treat the cars badly driving them like they were Brabham resulting in high repair costs and generally leaving them full of rubbish for the next driver.
