    obviously there is a dns issue somewhere in the world...

    ps

    if your just getting that sort of error now, your isp is caching dns requests to save bandwidth and i suggest you change your setup to use the free google servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

    Are those google DNS fairly reliable? Is it better to go with the ISP DNS or is there no difference?

    Are you getting dns errors as above?
