I heard a few theories:
1) Shower hot air convection currents make the fart more mobile
2) A fart in the bath leads to bubbles, which are concentrated gases.
3) Moist air in the bath or shower causes a moist nasal cavity, where our olfactory (smell) receptors are. Like a dogs nose which is wet, this helps to improve the sense of smell.
4) Hot gases are more volatile. Farts in ice water would be less smelly.
