Amen to that Brother.[bighmmm]

Years ago the RAA used to operate a "Testing Station" once per year in Sir Lewis Cohen Drive in the South Parklands & you queued & waited until they got to you & they would test lamp alignment, etc..

Of course those days of yore have long gone & they couldn't handle it these days so the next best thing is to have the local Service Centre of your choice do it, assuming they have a sighting board.

But you are right, heaps of cars have crappily (sp?) adjusted lights & some even have just one, but "Hey ho who cares, I'm alright Jack."

Seems people aren't taught by the driving schools to do a 'First Parade Service' before setting out for the day. I still remember the sequence as probably many of you still do.

Petrol -Oil -Water -Glass -Lights -Instruments -Tyres. The names have changed but the order is still the same. A least those things are being looked at.

I'm sure some people don't even kick the tyres, just the cat.[biggrin]

I must admit that with the company car, the oil gets checked when it gets serviced or the oil light starts flickering... 😇

I check my own vehicles often though.

I think it is something to do with the new car LED's, as a colleague has one of the new Hyundai SUV's and he says he often gets headlights flashed at him, when he is not even on high beam.

Low beam on LEDs is definitely creating more light than on standard headlights - that's why people buy them. Nugget commented on that difference when he fitted then himself and then decided to sell them on his Nugget Stuff website.
My non-scientific explanation is standard headlights produce a warmer light than LEDs, whose light is colder. Maybe an expert can say that better.

It could also be
a problem with the eyes..

I drove into a car park a few years ago on a bit of a dismal misty sort of day with my lights on low beam & an olde bloke stated berating me about the Discovery's lights (original OEMs) that apparently dazzled him . He gave me quite a serve (must be he way I part my hair)
Long story short, the lights were, as he happened to walk to wards me on low beam, & not really facing him either. His missus (??) just winked at me as I thought my luck had changed, as yer do. Left him behind still doing his nut but somebody told me a few days later about an eye condition that causes high sensitivity that could cause this.

Had light alignment checked & was found to be correct.

Dunno, Any Ophthalmologists on here?

Speaking from experience, cataracts will make lights more dazzling - as will a scratched or dirty windscreen. I find lights less dazzling since getting new lenses in my eyes.

Yes, I think my glasses being quite old and buggered is not helping things with me.

And both of the above would be worse on a wet road surface as well, just to amplify those problems.

Makes note to self, "Be aware of olde giffers when on the roads or elsewhere".
