Now to submit my aged pension application and wait up to 7 weeks for a decision - seriously? Seven weeks? How would some people survive 7 weeks without an income? Now, how about we we go for a little drive? Lawn Hill National Park looks nice - let's go there! It's only 2100 kms - just up the road. Threads that go off topic - here and other forums.

    Congratulations, Mike! Enjoy this time.
I honestly hope you have a better outcome with Centrelink than I!

Forward planning would have had you submit your pension applications six months prior to retirement.

Very soon you'll be wondering how you ever found the time to go to work.
Soon after, you'll realise how much money you're saving by not going to work.

    Good luck , enjoy.

We've been on this for weeks, but you have to state your current income.

SocSec allow applications up to six months prior to retirement, in order that payment can be made on the first eligible date. Ive recently assisted a friend through the process.

With me, it was on attaining the official retirement age, as deemed by some shiny arse i.e. 65 years and 6 months and I was officially advised that the pre-retirement lodgement period was 13 weeks.

Not that it did me any good!
