Hotmix bitumen is a great DIY material for a driveway surface, 1.5 tonnes between two blokes with a hired vibrating plate compactor makes for a solid morning's work. No long waiting time to drive on it, unlike concrete.

We used to live next to a railway line and would have vibrating plates on the kitchen table every time a train went past! :D
