Very interesting to see after a few days in Tokyo that not once have I heard anyone using the horn or yelling. As dense as the city is pedestrians bicycles and motor vehicles all get along. Got to wonder what we are doing wrong ?

Yep, spawned by ****wits that don't deserve to be on the road in the first place.
If people followed the rules and showed some manners and showed some general road etiquette towards others, we wouldn't have a fraction of our problems.

I think many people are just generally stressed by life at a time of insecure jobs, stagnant wages, rising costs, marriage breakdowns and cuts to support services and feeling they are losing control and it comes out in their behavior.

I think you have it quite right there.
Not exclusive to road manners either.
Particularly the losing of a sense of control.
I think this is contributing largely to depression for many.

Yes, depression and other mental illnesses are a huge problem in this country, particularly for men raised to think men should be tough and should just 'suck it up' and not complain, and not enough attention is being paid to this problem. Counselling services help, but they can't fix the underlying causes, such as those I mentioned above.

There are mechanisms for people to take back control. They just have to have the guts to stand up and say no to the bollocks.
