I think the most pertinent part of that report was the development of a hybrid (diesel-electric) range rover. I can see this going into defenders to increase range and reduce operating noise, both a bonus in military operations.

Maybe we can get hybrid defenders with a 10,000 km range!!!!!!!!

And you'll never need a low range rock hopping transfer case if you can apply power with a torquey slow revving electric motor.

You dont give yourself enough credit OI, you need some sort of a brain to come up with all the code talk you talk. You dont work for the CIA of something do you?

I dont see a problem with a new model as long as its functional. The freelander would sell alot better in Aus if the vehicle had better ground clearance and had low range, this would then make it a top small family off roader, and a serious one at that. Then make a sub 30k model softroader, i can tell you know i would buy one as soon as i had the cash for stacey. Matt

If Freelander was released with a powerful motor and entered into rallies (like Subaru), then that would have made it a great seller down under. Now it's already been introduced to the market as a "weak" car and it has to overcome the obstacle of a poorly planned launch. Maybe (probably not), Land Rover could do it better with the next model.

    I agree with that.

The Freelander was "sent into the world half made" (to quote Will Shakespeare). IMHO instead of leading the way LR made the mistake of following.

It is a great platform which should be worked on.

Great! All you need is a barn to park in so you can actually get out of it!
