I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
The word I choose for you is [ mods , look away, please,]---******, Thank you for your full view of our discussion. BTW, smiley faces don't make you a pleasant person. I think your opinion is best met with a great deal of salt. Nice chatting with you, it wont happen again, the chat, that is. Have a good life, Bob

No, no ..... Whatever works for you .... and you enjoy, Go with it! Saying one style of anything is better than another shows extreme ignorance. BJJ is all but hopeless as a self defence IMO.
My brother used to be the sensai for kevin hawthorne ninjutsu. Back when he ran the local dojo, it was a very effective self defense martial art (ie: absolutely useless for competition ). Everyone seems to yell whatever is the popular martial art they do is best. Eg: MMA or BJJ. They have rules.... So is more of a sport.
I've been doing Brazilian Jujitsu for about a year. I enjoy it but don't rate highly as a self defense at all ( I'll be screamed down by 99.95% of know alls with that one statement). Infact my description of it is fully grown sweaty mean cuddling each other

It's very unrealistic, it relies on no strikes and way to many of the locks and chokes require a martial arts ghee to be worn.
Before you yell me down, think of it from this perspective. How well are you going to try to get an arm lock or choke hold on someone while you have a smashed knee or punched in the throat ... Some of the holds used in jusjitsu are laughable. Don't get me wrong, they are very effective if applied quickly and is something that doesn't rely on a martial arts ghee. But how well are you going to put them on while someone is striking you hard in the face/throat/testicles/etc (see what I mean about it being not at all realistic). In ninjutsu this is what you train to do.
just go with whatever you enjoy is what I believe. (I've been practicing south eastern taekwondo for 6+ years, trained in ninjustsu for a couple of years way back ... I only do BJJ as it follows the taekwondo class).
Here's another thing to think about with regards to BJJ. I have been deep in merde only a few times in my life. Every single time I've been fronting a minimum of 2 poeple (when I was jumped in the local supermarket about 8years ago ... it was thirteen 16-20year olds. How do you think jumping on one of them and cuddling them on the ground is going to work out for you). Remember in real life there is no rules...

Thanks I enjoyed that. some of the demonstrated holds are very similar to the ones we have in our taekwondo classes. This is very much more effective than cuddling somoene on the ground and trying to get a lock on to win a competition.
What people seem to miss is this is a demonstration of correct technique. NOT two people fighting like the competition type martial arts. Same deal with the aikido and sword based arts. The people that have dedicated there life to master any them would be very tough guys to deal with in real life.
