How old are you really? - Health & Wellbeing
I lose 10 years but can blame my 'mid life crisis' of running marathons

How about you?
inconclusive....I can lift far beyond the capabilities of most guys I know, absolutely slaughter my 21yo son who is very fit when it comes to lifting.....
yet my neighbour , same age , left me floundering on some hillclimbing recently....
I can walk the socks off most people I know over several hours but can't keep up with most people in the first hour.....
I would probably fail that test......
Hmmm.... reckons I'm 24 ..... My wife would have said my mental age is about 14 I guess
Probably helps I'm a genetically scrawny bastard who's weight and size hasn't changed since I was about 18years old.... and I've never smoked.
Interesting what rambling boy says .... a lot has to do with genetics. I've always been physically much stronger than most people (though I'm a scrawny bastard and very flexible) .... BUT have bugger all co-ordination... if you throw a ball to me it'll either hit me ... or I'll have to go fetch... that's how much my co-ordination sucks. All genetics. I sit on my arse at a computer all day ... Sometimes I hang about after training of a thursday night and join in the jujitsu class ( Or as I refer to it .... sweaty full grown men cuddling each other). And they want to know what the hell my workout routine is as I'm so physically strong............. Sitting on my arse drinking beer and chocolate they don't believe even though it's the truth
If your genetically a chunky sized person and have "larger parents" .... guess what your size is going to be ......... That's just you. I don't believe in any of this "ideal weight" bull**** the diet crazed people go on with. Depending on your body size and genetics, your healthy weight will be nothing like the stupid "ideals" throw around.

I should be right to enjoy Land Rovers for a while - turn 50 in a few months but test says I should enjoy another 21'st party!![]()
I'll be having an actual VO2 Max test in a lab in a couple of months, so it'll be interesting to see what the difference between theoretical and measured tests will be. (The on-line test was 56 VO2 Max).
I cycle around 400 km's per week, including Criterium and road racing pretty much every weekend, with a 32km each way commute, so I am pretty fit. My strength is all in my legs and the fitness in my lungs and heart though - a typical cyclists physique ... a rib cage with thighs!![]()
Don't know really.
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
I had to do a "Stress ECG" to get my "FIM Super-licence" to race the Dakar Rally (The only race you need a super-licence for!). I pedalled the exercycle off the clock and the nurse had to tell me to stop before I broke it. The Dr just shook his head and said I was "supremely fit" as I could still talk happily at some stupid load with sweat pouring off me. Didn't help me at the Dakar much though!
I'm looking forward to doing the VO2 Max test just to get a good appreciation of my bodies ability to process and use oxygen and tailor my training and racing strategy to make best use of my physiology.
The other older blokes at work are dropping like flies. Heart attacks' limb replacements, Jack the dancer, etc. They keep getting back up though. High strain work on cold muscles and high stress on tired minds takes it's toll. My Doctor has referred me to a Ticker Specialist for a full ECG but I keep putting it off for fear of what it might say.
Cheers, Billy.
