What is the cost of happiness ? :p
My old 96 Diesel ran 410,000 ... I think from memory I must have been very lucky to buy her ...
Cost next to nothing .
Had her fully serviced only 3 times over near 12 years , I kid you not !
She blew a master brake cylinder booster .
3 sets of tires .
I power window motor .
Thats it !!
and just kept on going on and on !! and as my sig says , I still want to put her back on the road because I miss her :(
My 2001 V8 has been pretty good too up till now ..
As my current post says , I just ran a crank angle sensor , but after 8 months running her with work trailor behind every day , I can live with that !! :)
May be it is just luck as to how much goes wrong , but I think it is a bit to do with how hard you drive them too ??
I tend to appreciate and respect my Rovers for what they are .
They are not sports trucks ... although the V8 is great fun ... she has extractors fitted and sounds great too !!!!
I will be buying a third one when needed , if I do not put my old diesel back on the road ...
I lovem
cheers
Steve

In the short time i have owned my car very little.
Paid $1600 for it.
To get roady cost $300
Oil leak hahahahhahahahahah cost $20 and a few days of swearing...(steering)
Bullbar cost $130
Diff breathers cost $35
Reversing sensor $4 hahaha yea i got it cheap.
Alarm system with auto start and all that stuff $88
CB $75 (complete).
HID spotties $160
Suspension lift cost $400
33 inch tyres and rims $1350 (not done yet)
Flares $550 (not done yet)
BIG BLOCK CHEV REPLACEMENT hahaha joking but would love it.
So my car will owe me $4712 when i get my muddies and flares.
I cant complain, i drive with my best mate who owns a prado (hehe) and he paid more than my total cost!
I could include a detroit locker (which is next) and i would still be cheaper than his initial on road cost.
I think so mate.
I sold my old VT Calais and used the cash to buy this.
Location move from city to country so after a few weeks of thrashing my BLACK calais around the hills i decided that was insane and upgraded.
Best move i ever made. I love the disco and love the cost thus far.
Although that figure seems to be rising day by day the more i learn and the more i play lol.
But im hooked. I love my car and will keep it maintained and running well.
Would actually go as far as to say the recent months with this car have been some of the best motoring i have done. Mostly because its off road and crazy stuff which i like. None the less. Best motoring i have done.
LOVE my car! Family loves it also which makes paying for it easier.
just bring things into a slightly different perspective if I add the $20k purchase price approx $7k rego/insurance plus $15k fuel over the 7 years it starts to become a fairly expensive vehicle to own.
conservative ownership cost over 7yrs is $72,000 and I haven't included things like the constantly blowing rear taillights , the number of auxiliary lamps , headlights and driving lights that have had to be replaced......but the front lights are par for the course due to my regular long desert trips.
I think $10k+/yr may be high but I'm interested to hear from others.....especially those who do regular long trips off road like I have done.
