I'd take a black interior over some of the tan ones any day. Tan looks great but having tried to clean the tan interior of mums car it's a massive pita. Dark grey on my disco is fine.
Girlfriends family has a Mazda with black interior and considering how grubby it can be as it's a farm car it wears it very well.

Like Pocket Rocket I am in WA with a black 110 with black leather interior. No issues with the heat. Also one thing I have noticed with my wife's black interior is that it has lasted better with the kids than my old grey Prado interior. The black hides all those spills and god knows what else you get with young children.
I'm in Kalgoorlie and have black interior in a white D4. Mine goes onto mine sites including iron ore. You won't find a worse environment for heat and dust than that.
Heat is not an issue. Tint and air-con work better than Just about any vehicle I've been in. As for keeping it clean - I would never even consider anything else. ;)
Just make sure you get some deep rubber floor mats that catch all the crap off your boots.

Black seems bigger, but it may be just a myth.
I had a black leather interior in the white D3, the 2011 white D4 and the current 2013 silver D4. Shows the dust but not the stains or wear and is easy to clean. I've never found it particularly hot in any of the 3 cars. My boss has an identical D4 to my current one but with a tan (don't know the colour) interior and which always looks dirty to me.
It's not so much the colour but the material. My MG (hatchback) has tinted windows, black dash, doors, carpets, etc and black leather seats. I'm no clean freak so I can comfortably say that dust and dirt is no more of an issue than it is with any car.
The black leather seats though, can be rather uncomfortable when you first climb in on hot days. She also seems to get very hot inside when left standing in the sun but considering that my previous vehicle was an MGB (convertible), I'm probably in no position judge. I suspect that black material seats wouldn't be a problem.
In summary, I wouldn't go looking for a black interior, I probably wouldn't choose a black interior but a black interior would not stop me buying a car I liked.
And yes, they do look classy :D

I was playing silly buggas in one of my Mini's on a clay pan with the widows open, it being a hot day. Well, I pulled a hand brake turn, planted my foot and spun the wheels - it being front wheel drive, it threw rooster tails of dust right in through my windows. :eek:Quote:

Alas the decision was taken out of my hands when the LR dealership very unprofessionally took a deposit from someone else 1 hour before our appointment time and after we had already travelled for 4.5 hours, knowing full well from where we were coming and our early morning start to the journey. So we didn't travel the last hour to have a look, just turned around then encountered a severe hail storm on the return journey. The reason for looking for a replacement for the D4 is to get a better ride for my wife with her dud back, so she wasn't impressed by the dealership's actions that resulted in 9 hours travel with the attendant pain for absolutely no gain - not even to get an opinion to allow a future decision on whether or not to buy another vehicle of the same colour scheme to be purchased sight unseen.
I'll discover in the morning what, if any, hail damage has been sustained.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I suspected that black interior would not be prohibitive, even though not our first choice.
