I saw a post here (tech side) not so long ago about the power steering and from what I read it sounds quite simple. There were pics of the box opened as well.
Some time ago I asked about fixing mine and was told about $400 for an exchange unit from a fixer on the Gold Coast, which having seen these pics seems a bit exey, but.........

The exchange unit on the P/S cost me $660 from MR (and i got a quote elsewhere that was higher, and I didn;t even bother to ask LR), plus abot of labour etc. Had to get the Defender back on the road quickly - needed at least one vehicle I could count on to get to work !!
That is their retalaition for you going on holiday and not taking them with you to see the best 4wdriving WA has to offer. Who said cars are not alive, maybe you should name one Christine?
