when my Mum was in early stages dementia - I was sitting in the Garden with her and one of my Sisters. A bird landed on the grass nearby , I said "what's that Mum?" and she said " does it have a face" - I couldn't help but laugh, but my Sis gave me a slap. I suppose its similar to when your kid did something wrong and you were trying to discipline it without laughing.
