Driving lights - on a budget (yes, that old chestnut)

Second hand hella 4000 with cheap 55 watt hid kit. .need to be installed out outside spot light (ballest).

Or best way to go
Set of ipf with slim line ballest will fit inside
Ipf will wash over the hellas.
And you will get sore eyes from the road signs.
Be wary when coming down to low beam . Also hid have about 1.5 yo 3 secs warm up.( 0 to 1.5 normal high beam then you can see everything .
Be careful and set up for your driving style.
If your really need to drive at night, like I did 2 spreads 2 spots.
No use seeing 2 kms up the road if you can see that cow 29 mts to your left.
And yes light bars do work well up to about 90mts
Be enough stopping so the bullbar can save you.
This was on my Pajaro with the worst factory lights I have seen.

In my experience LED lacks distance and Rally 4000 are not a patch on the Hella Bull Light they were supposed to replace. Mick, unlike my previous post, this one is not facetious. ;)

Never mind my response above. Confused 200mm driving lights with 200mm light bar.

If it makes any difference, I use my light bars before I switch the driving lights on. Running 2x 30cm Wurton units (60W or 6,000 lumens each), and 2x IPF extreme (1x spot, 1x spread).

I can confirm hella 4000 not being the best.. had a set if ipf extremes.
Man they had one hell of a reflector.
Pitty the rest was not as well built.
BUT to this day I have not seen a set of lights as good as the extreme with hid installed.
Including a well built Australian spotlight.

The night stalkers I just removed were pretty good when I compared them to FYRLYT 5000

Actually do the 5000's for your size limit, they would be under$500

They still are a good light.

Resurrected a pair of Oscar + and fitted them with 150w globes.
Very happy with the result :)

Led light bar or driving lights?

Light bar. Good for seeing everthing.with in most cars braking zone.
Light bars allow you to see and move the vehicle or slow down.
High power spotlight allow you to see road path. Any reflector hazards ( parked cars. Water hazards. Dead animal's.road blocks, rest stops.etc.
I done over 65000kms driving at night(driving from west to east for holidays over east with the kids and van)
And have found a good set of white lights 4300k are the best for your eyes.
No sore eyes after 6/8 hours driving.
4300k do get some wash out from early morning fog. ( same light spectum).
I would just remove them once I got to the city(stop them from going to cash converters).
