Hi rambingboy, yes I do, but I do it by designing and manufacturing something that is better than anybody else has.
Thats how I keep my head above water and that is how Australian manufacturers should be striving to do it.
You can not compete by turning out something that others are doing and they can do it for a lot less.
Hi Eevo and while I understand what you are saying, but it would mean Australian workers would have to work for a bowl of rice for a days work.
We should not have to lower our standards to allow others to expoit an "OPEN" and free market, because it is not "OPEN".
Here is an example of how screwed up this country is.
One of my customers/suppliers developed and manufactures an electrical safety device, the RVD. This is a huge jump forward in 240vac safety for inverter, generator and RV electrical use.
They make RVD right here in Australia.
The device in its earlier fault riddled form, was copied by another Australian company, and sent to China for manufacturing and is now being sold back here at a much lower price.
There were a number of options available to my customer, but after conciliation with other people who have had similar things happen to them, including advice form one of Queenslands universities, my customer decided that as his product was far superior, they would simply out market the copy with a more advanced and safer device.
And while its taken a hell of a long time to get through the bureaucracy that this country throws up against anything new being invented/developed here The RVD is now in full production and is already starting to win over a large number of Australian companies and authorities, like QLD Ambulance.
This is how Australian manufacturers can beat the imports, as long as the government plays fair and makes it easier for Australian manufactures to bring new products to market, both for here and for export.
