    Yep, at least 10 to 15 years I think, probably longer - but they will come. I think a lot of people think it’s just around the corner.

    Indeed. Personally I don't care if they're not available tomorrow, I just need one when I turn 80 or so, plenty of time for them to get their act together. Probably cars will get more sensors in various wavelengths, e.g. infra red, and some new computer architecture to deal with a massive amount of parallel inputs.

    EDIT: Sorry. Don't know why it did that. I tried to link to a story on Jalopnik which argues that a company with Uber's 'fast and loose' culture should not be testing autonomous cars on public roads.

    I would largely agree with this and say that there needs to be a lot more oversight on self-driving car development. Accidents (and sadly fatalities) happen in all industries as a result of chasing progress but those accidents rarely occur on the public highway.
