Those Freelanders are always giving real land rovers bad publicity
Having said that we had a White D3 today stop at the intersection of Burwood HWY and MT. Dandenong Tourist Road today . This tool stopped right in the middle of the turn off and held up 10 cars behind him, and totally in his own world oblivious of the build up of traffic behind him figured out where he was supposed to be going, Then he woke up and pulled into the gutter on a corner blocking the turning traffic. GRRRRRRR!

I don't know Craig, drivers in this are are known for not being curtious at all, I'd have done the same, as I have many times before.
Mind you, if he had retaliated like that to me, he would have been in for a rude awakening. (No doubt at that point, I'd get called a tool too, and probably rightfully so), but I don't think the victim in this case is.

    Hey Chops,
I pretty much agree, but the cardinal rule these days is do not antagonise, just move on, as you don't know who or what the other person is. Too many people getting hurt for minor issues that should not escalate.
It does seem like the aggressor may have had right of way and did not have to let the other merge, to then use gestures is probably inappropriate as well. Can fully understand if he had failed to give way.
This however does not condone violence at all and this idiot needs to be off the streets.
I know I have had on occasion people gesture when I physically could not give way or change lanes to give them a bit of room. Depends on right of way. Too many people think they have right of way all the time, especially in respect to merging when they do not.
The victim just inflamed the situation. I can certainly understand not being happy, but to make sure the other driver saw his gesture indicates he is the initial aggressor in a minor aspect. Though again did not deserve the follow up action metered out.
I can assure you Perth drivers are fare worse and the rudest and least courteous in Australia. I certainly don't gesture people every time they don't let me in.
The problem is a lot of these people are on drugs and I agree I would have decked the idiot for putting my kids lives at risk, but if on drugs can have ridiculous strength and that then leads to other issues.
This is where dash cams come into there own.
Merging is a big point of contention over here. Most don't understand if there are dotted lines all merging traffic must give way when entering. If there are no line it is basically who is ahead at the time has right of way. The Kwinnana Fwy for example has both, but yet people merging at time also force their way in at speed.

I don't know how accurate the graphic is but it looks as if the other driver was antagonising the Freelander driver anyway by driving so close to him. Was he complaining the other driver hadn't let him into the traffic from the left?
Or was he trying to push in front of it after he had got onto the hwy?
Whatever, the other bloke is seriously deranged and shouldn't be allowed on the road.
I've got a dash cam I use nearly all the time now but had forgotten to put it on recently when a woman driver pushed past me at a set of lights and "undertook" me between my car in the left hand lane and the lights in an effort to get past.
When I caught up with her at the next lights I gave her a wave and the hand clapping bit hoping she was looking in her mirror.....but given the idiot manoeuvre she'd just carried out I doubt that.

Had similar before in the past...

I've had a hand around my throat through the window once because a guy cut me off so I "saluted" him.. He got a surprise

Had another jump out at lights to come have a "chat"... I met him in kind...
He ran a red light and was spotted....
