Not 4wd related but on the way back from a trip a couple of years ago we came across a young couple in a broken down old Volvo by the side of the Great Northern Hwy about 4km north of Cataby roadhouse. They had three kids in the car, a toddler and a pair of very new twins which they were taking to Geraldton to see their grandparents. It was a very hot day and they were getting desperate, and had made a big cardboard sign saying something like "Help, young kids". The bloke had already walked to the roadhouse and back, the roadhouse owner had said sorry can't help. Now get this, it was the Thursday before Easter and there was a continuous stream of traffic heading north, they had been there three hours and not one person had bothered to stop, until we did.Originally posted by Ace
There is nothing more rude than people sitting around watching someone else in trouble or stuck or what ever and not offering help. Scum of the earth people like that. Matt
We towed them into Cataby (stuffing my snatch strap in the process - unfortunately that was the only towing implement I had, never mind it was an old one, gave me an excuse to go shopping). They obviously didn't have much money but he tried to give me $100, I said don't worry, do someone else a favour one day.
I just couldn't believe they had been sitting there that long. Un-Australian is what it is.![]()
