I've sent the few pix that I had, by the time I realised just how close the LC was to going to a watery grave I had to work quickly or it may have been too late 8O

My brother was using the old Sharp VHS camera when I dragged out the Patrol, but I don't have a converter and I still had the digital still camera in the Rangie

I've seen some comical things up there in the last twenty years, but this episode rates right up there.....Russel Coight eat your heart out!. It's a good feeling knowing your efforts and advice are really appreciated, and have made a differenc 8)

On the subject of people NOT offering help, last year on Samurai, the naturalist beach I frequent I got my Vitara stuck on the approach to the exit. It was my own fault entirely, but there were a pair of lightly modified Suburus who watched me spend an hour on my own with a shovel digging it out without even offering ANY help...I was flabbergasted! Next morning when I was driving back on to the beach the were both stuck in the middle of the track in...........I didn't even back of as I passed em, just gave a 'Queen Elizabeth' wave out the window. Revenge is sweet!

Cheers Scott.

I haven't had to help with 4bys but I did stop to help at an accident in heavy rain in Canberra with Heavy traffic. This old guy and a tiny woman were trying to push their cars out of the intersection( going nowhere) with everyone honking their horns and just going round. I just stoped 20 metres before their accident put the hazards on and locked my car up (blocking the entire lane) walked up and started helping them to move the cars. No one else stopped to help and a few even cut between us forcing me to have to try and stop the car whe had just to moving.

It just amazes you. A few minutes of your time can help others and if more did it then you would get the help when you need it.

all said and done....there are the negatives for helping others...

an example...(not sure if it was on this forum or my club)
some idiots playing mr invincible got themselves bogged just before sunset...
someone came along and decided to help them out...as you do....
they had no recovery gear!!!
they got themselves bogged by being stupid behind the wheel....

so the person that offered assistance had to also use his own gear...
the recovery all done they hop in their car and leave....
didnt even offer to help with packing away the gear they just used or anything of the kind...

as the person who just did the good deed was leaving...on his way home...
his diff or axle(cant remember) blew due to damage being sustained during the recovery of the ungreatful clowns....

it can get expensive being a good samaritan.....that person will now think twice before helping anyone again after that lesson....

moral is...some people will not help for similar reasons.....others are just
ar$ehalves...( it takes two of them to make an ar$e whole )

as for all of us....any excuse to recover a toyo......

That's the beach that naturalists like Harry Butler and Steve Irwin visit.

I prefer the Samurai Beach that is a naturist beach where people take off their clothes.
