If you want cheap power, drill a tiny hole in the case and insert a toothpic to drag on the wheel,it takes little friction to stop it = free power, its how the hydroponic houses get away with not getting noticed. You just need to know roughly when the meter gets read as they look for toothpics

the meters have a spinning disk

when the meter is next read is on my bill
and they send me an sms

you do it from the back so its not visible from the front. usually means a hole in the wall though

Your place of abode must have missed out on the big meter replacement rollout back in 2008. If you do report your faulty time clock they may just give you a whole new electronic meter which accurately records all your usage, instead of around 1/2 of it like my old one before 2008.

    I notice it's a Warburton Franki.....do they still exist?

My uncle was a techsupport manager for them and he imported Ryobi into Australia, before they became big enough to support themselves, a SA first if you didn't know.

the last few places ive rented have the old school meter.

It is already here, and has been so for around 100 years.

If your going to go to that much effort .... Why not just drop the board out and wire off the "in" side of the meter, so any power you use insn't recorded. Who would ever be the wiser ? They'd have to send out a service team to dismantle to sort out what is going on
