    Post-surgery ...'changes' anyone else ?

Wondering if I'm unique (?) in noticing post-operative (general anesthetic) changes in oneself.

Wife assures me every time I've had a 'general', I manifest some new 'tic' or quirkyness afterwards - more than usual.

A couple of 'medical mates' tell me that Personality alterations are not unknown, though rare...

Looking back, - the 'results' from several heart procedures were different to the brain-surgery a few months ago... which are only now becoming obvious. (to me)

Anyone else know or suspect similar experiences?

    - No pun intended, but some of the changes are...doing my head in !

Certainly notice changes in my mother after her op around 10 years ago, i believe it accelerated her dementia (actually I think it kicked it into gear).

Not exactly what I wanted to hear...

Looking back, mine also started her downhill trend not long after serious surgery in her late 50's. Took the next 15 to 20 years to show unmistakable worrying changes...
Then again, she was also a long-term (not well controlled..) Type II diabetic.

    Surgery affects

The only post operative affect I experience is they have screwed up my ability to have a normal nights sleep. Spend a lot of time staring at a dark ceiling every night.

Interesting post. Having gone through a major operation last year under general I have found that I am sleeping less well. Not sure why.

Also saw this interesting clip on Youtube about this topic - pity if you are a Ranga

Don't believe it had any long term effects but for a few days after general anaesthetic I believe dreams were more vivid. That is, after sleep, I woke up remembering much more of them than normal.
