4WD Monthly has removed the link to the pix (but not the topic - unlike Overlander). Someone complained so they must have gone to the link to see the pix.

G'day All, Love the pix of your wife Ron, by the way does she know it's there 8O , anyway dont waste too much time on the people in the overlander forum cause they really dont want to admit/know that Oz was basically opened up by people (just like them) but only driving the Best 4x4xFar, I've had a Landrover in my possesion constantly for over 30 years and some others on this site have possibly had a longer connection, so lets not lose too much sleep other those others and just get on enjoying ourselves 8)  cheers Dennis
PS Ron by the way next time your wife, you know wants her picture taken again can you let us with an interest in photography know about and I wouldn't object to a small fee, you could end up very cashed up as he ducks for cover.

I've just had a look at what was going on with the post and the banning at Overlander. At the end of the day every forum has its own expectations of it's users, the type of content that it publishes on the Internet, and something it is well within it rights to moderate. Some allow porn pics, some don't, and Overlander doesn't allow pics of that type, just like it doesn't allow swearing etc. A lot of the forums on the internet have been started and run privately, though Overlander you must remember is being run by a fairly large publishing organisation and directly linked to a family orientated 4WDing magazine, and so have directed that the forum is to be suitable for users of all age groups, including kiddies that look over their parents shoulders. Anything that happens on that forum relates to the magazine, and the bottom line is sales. To run a forum that isn't suited to all isn't acceptable as far as the magazine is concerned. Remeber the magazine pays for the forum. As to why you were banned.... reading the code of conduct you made a major breach of the rules and that was the consequence from the moderator at the time. Its not that the moderator has any personal opinion about you or any personal problem with the picture, but Overlander have told us specifically what is acceptable, what is not and what to do in such situations.

As to DI not liking Landies.... well he did own a Disco TD5 which he loved, but its reliability did nothing to endear itself and now its gone.
Cheers

This is exactly what happened with the Land Rover Enthusiast forum. LRE (the mag) kept jumping up and down and making life hell for the mods if there was even mild criticism of the mag.
In the end, all the members have left and started their own forum (Land Rover Addict) and the LRE forum is to be shut down.

WEll overlander isn't moderated to the point of mods getting jumped on if somebody criticises the magazine, or an article it published. From what i've seen since I started contributing to the overlander forum, the magazine takes on board criticisms and suggestions alike in order to make a better magazine. FWIW I like the way that the overlander forum is run, and moderated, like a family forum.

That said a bit of freedom is nice at times as well, but there is other places for that. Everything has it's place, just the more lewid items place isn't on the overlander forum.
