You're assuming the dingbat wasn't already known to the local police, perhaps they knew he'd been parking in the same spot for some time and just waited for him to go back there. I mean, how do you run away when your rig is that distinctive? The whole chase or not to chase thing has me vexed. On the one hand, nab him later, let him stop for a whizz then grab him.
However, on the other, every metre he drives erratically is a metre he can and eventually will, hurt or maim an innocent. Whether by running a light and hitting uncle Joe or mounting the curb and squashing baby Shani-qua.
I'd hate to have to confront a young constable at a coroners inquest and ask him/her why he/she didn't stop the purp 10 blocks back instead of letting him drive crazy and kill Grandpa.

I've looked at that video several times. He wasn't particularly eratic. He indicated to change lanes to pass (overtake) the third police car. He did not appear to be speeding or braking any road rules, apart from not stopping as directed by the police.Quote:

Just imagine if the bloodthirsty fantasies of some commenters came true and all Oz police patrols were issued with assault weapons strong enough to take out a miscreant on the fly (and were trained to never ever miss a speeding target from their moving vehicles, ha ha). You'd end up in a crap hole like the southern US or Russia where bystanders lives were cheap and cops could and do shoot you for just being cheeky. I remember the you toob vid where a whole bunch of Russian cops tried to stop a 4WD and it took several minutes and hundreds of bullets. All I can say it's a good thing our cops used their intelligence instead of their dick extenders to catch the moron concerned. ;)
