....other Newcastrians and Hunter Valleites, I hear it's a bit damp down there. Is everyone coping with it alright?

Thanks for your concern Ian. All good here but there are other suburbs like Raymond Terrace, Wallsend, Edgeworth and Cardiff that are doing it fairly tough.

I heard it was a bit dire in Raymond Terrace.
    Isn't Banjo in Edgeworth?

The river rose over the bank at the Terrace, minor flooding ... the flooding was far worse in the April East Coast Low.

Edgeworth has a few hills and hollows. I'm hoping he's on a hill.

Cardiff. Is on higher ground but sounds like a drowned rat from what I hear

Parts of Cardiff and Glendale are fairly low lying and are probably copping a bit too but I haven't heard much.

I am not on top of the recent news, but Cardiff is low lying, and on the creek, so cops all the runoff from charlestown and the backflow from the creek which flows into lake mac...
Most of main road cardiff is below 10m elevation.

Good day all. Thanks for your concern Ian, but we are on fairly high ground so we have no flood danger. Banjo lives at Cardiff, but where he lives is also reasonably high ground.

The worst hit places are Dungog (again, I feel sorry for those people being hit twice in twelve months) Raymond Terrace and parts of Wallsend. The buses were pulled off the road on Tuesday night at about 7.30, because of flooding. But driving my bus between Cameron Park and Charlestown (through Cardiff) yesterday was without a problem. I will be doing the same runs today and expect no worries.

ps. I didn't work on Monday because I was in John Hunter Hospital having a colonscopy done and as I was not allowed to drive or operate machinery for 24 hours, I did not work on Tuesday also.

pps. It is only the 7th of the month and the rainfall is a record for January in this area.
