Waroona / Yarloop Bushfire

Hope everyone is OK down that way and it's not getting close to anyone from here. About three quarters of Yarloop Township is gone, and three people missing at the moment.

I have a good mate with a farm in the hills not far from there ? hope he and his wife are OK.

South West Highway is closed and likely to remain so for some time, as the Samson Brook bridge has collapsed during the fire.

As if the fires are not bad enough , there are now louts on trail bikes looting evacuated properties . What the hell is wrong with people today .

Yep - saw that on a news report earlier. Should just put a bounty on them and shoot the worthless scum.

Not Good.Weather change today should help the fire fighters get it under control.
There were 4 people missing.2 bodies found,the other 2 people now accounted for.
Very busy here.The only way back to Perth for the masses that holliday from Bunbury/Busselton/Yallingup/Margaret River must travel across to Albany hwy and up to Perth,plus there are the masses returning from Albany.I returned from Horrocks Beach late yesterday,the traffic on Albany hwy was bumper to bumper.LOTS of idiots overtaking when unsafe.

Watching the story on the news, I noticed a Series 1 in the burnt out remnants of someones home. Very sad time for those who have lost everything. For those in the area or effected, Is there anything we (AULRO family) can do. ?

How about we stick a dollar or two on our subs next time we re-new? Would it be possible for Dave then to make a distribution?

Heard from a mate of mine on a farm just out of Harvey over the weekend. His farm is 90% burnt out, shed and all machinery / tools destroyed, including tractor and bobcat. But they have been lucky. House survived and all farm animals were moved safely to a small section of the farm near the house that was not burnt, and they suffered no losses - and most importantly, nobody injured.

He stayed on and near the property through the fire and worked with the volunteer firies to protect his and neighbours properties - he was luckier than some of his neighbours. The photos he sent me look pretty bad - especially the one of the fire jumping the south west highway just down the road from his house. When he sent me a message at midnight Saturday night, he had just got a generator from somewhere to get some power back on to their house (he's an electrician), and was getting some water from a nearby dam so that they could have a shower and flush toilets - all of the water supply for the house had been used fighting the fire. They weren't able to go into town, as all roads were closed and everything in Harvey was either evacuated or closed.

After we get back from Tassie, I'm heading down there for a week or so to give him a hand cleaning up / putting things back together. Is a lot of work to be done.
