Thread: telstra mobile outage

While there are times when I ignore my mobile, the fact is that quick communications are now essential in many fields. My workplace couldn't operate the way it does without the fibre-optic internet and phone connection.
I have both work and private emails coming separately to my phone and never turn it off, except if I'm in some remote area with awful phone signal (that would be more than 80% of this country's landmass, I think).
The information highway is now more important than physical highways and that is only going to get more so in the future, I think. Communications are vital to this country's future. We have to do more than just dig holes and ship chunks of our country overseas to make a living in the future.

I think you're missing the point, because of the outage, those calls you missed would not have been able to be made to you anyway(if your cutomer was with Telstra)

So you got a longer lunch, learn to enjoy the break next time
    Cheers Baz.

I think that the expectation of immediate contact with a business or tradesman is not something driven by what the businesses or tradesmen want but rather by what their customers or clients have come to expect.

    People now want things immediately.

not sure how their working this free access. but

my internet dongle is still working on its low speed restriction and the data rate is a good 30% slower than usual

my 24/7 ticker is still counting up and tracking my usage.

this leads a couple of points.

    1. thanks your free data on my normal internet is slower than my normal "free" data
    2. how do I reset to compensate for any "free data" i leach out of my phone by hot spotting it?

My speed is normal but the network is being hammered. About twice as much data flowing through the pops.

My usage has stopped. I would be concerned ifs were u

I was tracking my usage on my phones 24/7 app and it was still climbing but it seems to have stopped at the point it was at when I rechecked it just before making the post. thats going to leave me with about 800mb to make 9 days. which given my usage isnt going to be a hassle.

The phones data rate is a lot better than the dongles, (but cmon 35k/sec average when it normally hauls in over 150K/sec) but still nowhere near what I know the phone is capable of doing when I hot spot it, damn it I want the 1.5mb/sec I know the hardware is capable of under laboratory conditions

I wouldnt have been concerned if the dongles speed hadn't dropped off.

I wonder how the internet packet rates look on the world map ATM. IT also raises some questions like.

I can guarantee there are people out there that are leeching more today than they would normally in a month. I suspect theres more than a few of them. If the system is capable of handling that much info in a day and doing so for free why does it cost so much for so little over the duration of a month?
