My Samsung is an S4... Ok, it's an evilBay one, my guess is surplus or unsold stock from the SPRINT network USA (?)
I'm being pushed towards a cradle/bluetooth earpiece and external antenna connection, looks like telstra phone on a plan, whether I like it or not.
I don't know of any of the 'Others' who can give coverage from up there and down to Bunbury (Boundries of our 'country' work)
I couldn't find a phone except a Telstra phone, with an external antenna port.No one else seems to have one.I only use the telstra phone in regional areas. With the external antenna,it works exceptionally well.
I was already with Telstra,so no changes were needed.
Aldi and Woolworths use Telstra's 2G network and it's pretty patchy these days.
I have a Samsung with an Aldi card and it doesn't always get reception where my iPhone 4S with a Testra 3G SIM does.
I don't know where Aldi and Woolies will go when Telstra closes the 2G network this year.
Re the free data Sundays, I didn't use any the last time and it's unlikely I'll use any on the next one.
Have to agree the telstra website is the slowest on the web! Staggering given they are supposed to be a leading edge in data supply! If I try and log in to my bigpond webmail its start, then go and rebuild the engine in a series, come back after its installed and the mail MAY be there! Sadly where I am any other carriers are just not an option for phone.
Since September I have had an ongoing fault in the phone, resulting in up to 3 weeks of no phone, unless I go 3 kms up the paddock to a high hill! So far I have clocked up 2 months of outage! And they keep saying , "we can not find any fault"
GRRRR :/ And the Ombudsman is hopeless.
Cheers Scott
Thanks for that BAD News (ALDI uses the 2G frequencies... which is what the flip-fone has, but not 4G
(I checked on an IMEI referencing site...)
.. In the interim, I've put the Virgin (OPTUS) card from the ancient flip-fone SAMSUNG into an unlocked TELSTRA 'Blue Tick' / ZTE T96 phone, the one with miniscule keys... and external antenna socket. :D
My earwig bluetooth mates with it...
- Just need to drive into some marginal areas and see if the signal is better.
Pulled the back off the SAMSUNG S4... to find an antenna socket hidden there, same sub-miniature one as on the T96, - so I can see a cheapy magnetic base antenna in the next Shopping Cart :o
