telstra mobile outage

We had been having internet problems for months. All along maybe once a week I've been begging for a technician to come out and look at the line. Answer was always " no, no, no. It's something here. The "last guy" you talked to didn't do blah blah blah.." I offered to pay. Finally, after 4 months and countless phone calls, they sent someone out AT THIER EXPENSE and whaddaya know, the line outside was shorting out. Hopeless...

Not to mention, even finding a phone number to contact them on their website takes 10 minutes due to having to go through the "troubleshooting" sequence....telstra mobile outagetelstra mobile outagetelstra mobile outage

Had in interesting experience today, up at New Norcia. - Tourist destination on the Great Northern Highway, about 90 minutes north of Perth.

Previously, I'd been caught out with 'no signal/service' on my Virgin Pre-Paid.
- fair enough, as Virgin re-sells for OPTUS, and their coverage outside the Metro area ain't the best. But a passenger (I drive buses) had perfect signal on her TELSTRA.

Obvious solution is to get another pre-paid (for work use only) phone and run a TELSTRA - based provider.

So I have, a you-beaut Samsung S4 'smart-phone' ( to complement my Virginal and stupid flip-fone) on the ALDI pre-paid, which best suits my needs.

Today, NO Virgin signal (expected) ...and the 'smart phone' / TELSTRA-ALDI tells me that there is ''NO NETWORK"

Hmm... another driver pulls out his TELSTRA phone...which shows 3 bars of signal. We make the required call... hang up..then he gets "Emergency Calls Only" on his phone.! (around midday)

One wonders just "who?" is playing what.....

I've heard a rumour that (some?) carriers favour coverage for their onw brand-name clients, but limit the range/speed/coverage of their re-sellers....

I love a good conspiracy theory ! But what if it's true ???

Telstra had my blood boiling today.
I got a SMS,"Sorry you missed our calls if we dont here from you in 24 hours we will assume your problem is sorted" I never received ANY calls on my mobile, every time they talk to you they say WHICH number do we call you on.No missed calls either.
I got the case manager, told him he promised me friday SOMEBODY would sort this over the weekend,he tried telling me I wasnt answering my phone.Told him no missed calls,no voice mail, didnt happen.Got me to talk to another overseas operator who didnt have a very good grasp of english.Another 20 mins on the phone,I call you back sir.Didnt happen.Case manager will get both barrels tommorow.
Asked serveral operators today to re-set my log in and text a new pasword, they wont do it.

Unlikely, as the separation would be on the accounting servers not the tower, probably a difference in the quality in phones. In your shoes I would get a cradle and and external antenna

Could it be that you were in an area that needs a "blue tick" phone? My personal Samsung Galaxy S4 (with a blue tick) often works where my Nokia C-5 work phone (not blue ticked) doesn't.

I don't know how rural you need to be before only blue tick phones work but I found that even in Winton my Nokia didn't work but my Samsung did.
