    I did like this show;
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_After_People

    But I suppose any arguement to reduce population would too quickly be reduced to political and religios ideology

    How does that next line change your message?

    So what did you mean about balance? Can you explain in more detail?

    very simply.....each human being requires a certain amount of water to maintain ALL aspects of life.

    at some point in the near future the population will require more water than is available, that is when the balance will tip.

    but before that there will be fights and perhaps wars.....just look at the Murray-Darling river fiascos.

    better still , go and look at the condition of those 2 rivers....I will put up some photos of the Darling in a few weeks after I travel it's lengths.

    Hi,
    The Darling is really a series of weir pools now.
    It was only flowing in a few places when we did the Walget to Wentworth run a few years ago.
    Cheers

    It isn't population growth ruining the Murray-Darling, it's irrigation extraction for farming for crops which are mostly exported. Population growth or decline makes no difference.

    If there weren't as many people, we wouldn't need as many crops.

    I remember somebody saying that by the time the water in the Thames river reaches the sea , it's been through on average 7 sets of kidneys

    If the crops are mostly exported then its not our people responsible.

    Our birth rate is below two children per couple so our population would be rapidly ageing if it wasn't for immigration. Japan's population is rapidly ageing and its been in a recession for 20 years.
