Does anyone on the forum live around the Queenstown-Dunedin-Invercargill loop and might have a chance to meet up in the next two weeks?

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Best you dont try bungee jumping at Queenstown Ronald.
They may strap you to a little persons rope knowing you propensity to invest in dodgy products

Ron, if you don't happen to meet up with any AULRO members and you have a day or two to fill in while you're at Queenstown there are three things I'd recommend you do.
1. Take the drive up to Glenorchy - spectactular scenery and nice little town.
2. Visit Arrowtown - nice old buildings and interesting Chinese mining history display.
3. Try a meal from Pedro's Roast Lamb at Queenstown, also try a 'fergburger' - quite a meal and very popular so order by phone and avoid needing to queue.
Also, a visit to Larnach Castle on the Otago Peninsula, Dunedin is quite interesting (including the history of the castle) and they have a good coffee shop/cafe and accommodation.
Have you taken your birthday flight yet?

fergburger....I keep thinking of something with different spelling.
Just stay back from Christchurch, we don't want you setting off any earthquakes.

Have to agree with all of these. But don't just go to Glenorchy, keep on going around the the top of Lake Wakatipu and there is a dirt road that goes down the other side to a couple of walking track heads, some farms and also a small hotel/hostel place. We stayed there a few years back when I was too late with bookings to get anywhere in Queenstown over new year.
You will get some great views of the eastern side of the lake along this road.
Cheers
Mike
Ive just spent the last couple of weeks on the South Island.
Yes Queenstown is a great place to visit and the fergburger is one heck of a meal indeed. You could also take a trip on the gondla sky ride as the views of the surrounding mountains are truly breath taking. The Shotover Jet Boat ride is also close by and pretty good if that's your sort of thing. Or for something a little calmer there's a boat trip down the lake on and old paddle steamer.
Dunieden is a very busy student town and the only bit I really saw of that was the high street and the Land Rover main dealer as I was waiting to get my 130 back from having a clutch replaced as it fell apart whilst we were down there.
Te Anau is also a stunnig place to go if you like the scenery and a great drive up to Milford Sound and a underwater nature reserve including great boat trip around the sounds. A bobus too if your a Lord of The Rings or Hobbit fan.
One of my favourite places is Mount Cook and the views of the glacier, mountain range and colour of the lake stunnig.
