Had a few Commodores in my time, some pretty good ones, Brocks HSVs etc, but I don't think they're quite in the "classic" market yet, but with the demise of the V8, IMHO, maybe not too far into the future, some of them will be.
Having said that the REAL classic car market is booming, especially in Europe, but there's pretty good gains being made here too, and,.....no capital gains tax!
I could've bought a Dino Ferrari in the seventies for around $12K,....now,.....$500K+!!

    Interesting article.

It's a different investment strategy, but I guess most of the gamble is in what car to invest in and stick with it until you achieve your rate of return (if it even gets there).

Mick, Sadly the commodore might have to wait a few more years.
My 300zx will still be worth SFA for the next 25 years at least. And even at the end of it all, it's still a just a Datsun which is not in original showroom condition

Back in the 70's my dad was offered a dino for a very good price but having 3 kids he bought a XW GTHO PHASE II instead then replaced that with a 2dr RRC .

Interestingly, a mate has a FG XR8 he is thinking of selling. We took it to the "All Ford Day" at Geelong to see if we could stir up interest.
Chatting to a few knowledgeable Ford folk, they say there weren't many FG XR8s made and, with the demise of the Falcon, prices should be rising in the next few years. They're beginning to rise now.
They advised to hang on to it for a few more years.

You should have bought a 240Z, Toxic.

If only. When I was looking they were selling for about 6K in average condition.
The good ones are fetching up to 50K.
