Shouldn't it be "In Memoriam"?

That's correct. AD stands for Anno Domini. Latin for in the year of the lord. So Jesus was borne in the first year of the lord. You couldn't have a year Zero with him in it.

so the year 2000 wasnt really 2000 years. it was 1999 years and we should of celebrated 2001

That's what I typed in Ron, apparently my tablet prefers Memorial. I had to revisit the title in response to your comment.

I repeated what I heard on the wireless. I should have checked with Ron or RB42, as I wasn't around back then.
