are there any car detailers on this forum.....?

the paint on the roof of my fender was dry and oxidised.....ive just cut it back
and now want to seal/protect it from happening again.....
ill be putting a roofcage on soon and won't have access to the roof to clean or polish......
there won't be enough room to get my hand in between the rack and the roof.....
so its just up to the rain to wash it.......


are there any products out there that will give long term protection.....?

I'm about to go over the roof with some collinite 476s......unless theres something else that is better......

any advice will be greatly appreciated.......

There is a product they paint/seal caravan roofs with.May be worth looking in the caravan thread,Im sure the product has been mentioned there.Ive seen it advertised in WA when they have a caravan feature in the newspaper,the advertiser does the job or sells the product DIY.The bloke offers a 10 year warranty.
Sorry I cant think of the name of the product.
It should help with pesky Defender roof leeks,would save in having to clean the floor drains as often

i was just looking for the post you were talking about......but didn't have any luck......

in fact.....ive never had any luck searching for things on any forum.....
do i just click on the search button and then type in for example.....paint protection.....?

thats not what i was after......if its a matter of painting the roof ill just let the paint weather away and repaint it if and when the roof racks come off......

I'm more after a good quality sealer or wax to protect my paintwork.....
I'm beginning to think theres nothing out there that will do what i want......

but you've got me thinking now......a rubber coated roof.....insulation from noise and hot/cold..........interesting........

Best bet is try this search.
You will need to try several different ways of searching,ie sealing a caravan roof,sealing paint etc etc.
Yes I find it difficult to search too,I only use the advanced search now.

Try a post in the caravan area.The sealant isnt a silly idea,do it and do it once.

its not a silly idea at all......im just not sure I'm gonna like the look of it.....
i don't think its gonna look as neat as paint does.....thats all.....

im gonna have to think about this one.....itll also be good to paint underneath my fender as well......
