    Mayday

    This morning there was a mayday call on the 40ch.A member of the public stopped to help a farmer in distress,his tractor and boomspray had caught on fire.He asked for the fire brigade and immediate help.
    I sent my water truck,called 000 to get the fireys and headed there in the grader,only a few km up the road.
    Wow do those modern big tractors burn,they have a huge fuel and hydraulic oil tanks.Spectacular!!!!! Nothing could be done for the gear,only 12 months old too.It started a scrub fire both sides of the highway.

    I know the farmer,a nice bloke too.You cant just slip into the tractor dealer and grab a new tractor and boomspray,you order that stuff 12 months ahead.Just before seeding too.

    Not nice to hear that word in any situation. Least of all when aviating.

    Thankfully damage was contained to the things that can be replaced - albeit after a wait.
