it is low level corruption but is it hurting anyone?

POLICE chief Ken Lay is trying to ditch the popular image of police scoffing burgers on patrol.

The Chief Commissioner has written to McDonald's corporate headquarters asking it to no longer offer police discounts and freebies.

Uniformed police, ambulance officers, firefighters and the State Emergency Service can get up to half the price of meals discounted at Victoria's McDonald's outlets.

Some restaurants also offer free food or drink - a practice it is feared could lead to perceptions of bias.


Doughnut giant Krispy Kreme told Crikey it gives a 50% discount to members of the defence forces, cops and emergency services. According to unconfirmed media reports, there are discounts at KFC, Hungry Jacks, Subway, The Coffee Club and Gloria Jeans.

On the subject of Maccas drive through: have you ever been asked to move to the waiting bay whilst they prepare your large order? I have and I used to comply. I don't anymore, after seeing what happens from the inside.
They give your order to a poor bedraggled spotty two year old, bleeding from the lashes to his back, and put the rest of the urchins on the shorter orders who came behind you and pass you by as you wait in the limbo bay.
Now I say,"It's OK thanks, I'll stay here while you entire tribe of urchins fills my order. 😎
