    Maccas strike again

It is hard to find decent food when you are on the road. These quick take away outlets seem to be the usual stops. Called into Maccas on the way home on Sunday afternoon. All we wanted was a cup of coffee and something to eat. We got our coffee...if that is what it actually was. I ordered cappuccinos and got two warm flat white with a shake of chocolate on the top. Any resemblance to what I ordered was non-existent. I wonder how many others get the same treatment. One other time the coffee was dead cold....they forgot to heat the milk.

Take your own tucker, bread, butter ham, tomato, lettuce, and a thermos. Know what you eat and eat good tucker. Huge corporations will only give you what THEY want to achieve high profits. They're ripping you off.

Maccas counter staff will tell you the coffee from behind the main counter are the same as the coffee from McCaf? however that may be true of the beans but not of the resulting coffee itself (even if McCaf? are made in an automated barista machine)

After years of travelling and tempting fate with coffee purchases, including getting a coffee made with a barista machine using instant coffee, I have learnt that while McCaf? coffee may not be excellent, it is reliable and a much safer/drinkable option than many/most other roadside cafes.

Not going to offer an opinion on the burgers though. Some things aren't publishable.

I too have my own machine at home, a Delonghi which is supposed to be the second best single boiler machine, apparently the best is the Gaggia, but having used both as the in laws have the Gaggia I prefer the Delonghi. Anyway they both make excellent coffee, and as I always make myself a double shot I have a good reference of what a double shot is. So annoying when out and about to order an extra shot and get dish water weak coffee and then they insist it is two shots.

I carry a thermos of tea, usually Earl Grey. Although I dislike coffee, if getting a meal at Maccas I get coffee - the coffee might not be all that good, but it is streets ahead of their tea!

We go to one when traveling south and I have to ask for a double shot to taste any coffee. I thought this stuff was made on an automatic machine?

Are you talking about the McDonalds Express coffee or the McCaf? coffee?

The express machines are fully automatic press button things usually next to the apple pie warmer while the McCaf? machines are semi automatic machines that require a baris.. (won't call them complete baristas because they aren't)

(N.B. ? (after caf) is supposed to be "e" with the acute accent, but the board isn't displaying the character set correctly)
