Thread: Ethanol free fuels?

As far as i know fuels with ethanol have to be advertised as such. It is illegal to sell fuel with ethanol added to it with out advertising it as such, eg;
E 10 and E 85, as told to me by my old boss who runs a real servo...not a supermarket that sells fuel.

Ps if u use ethanol blended fuel in small engines it rots out the steel fuel tanks if left in the tank for long periods as it absorbs moisture. Moisture in steel tank equals rust. Same for cars

Cheers! Thats what I thought but have read that some premium ones were not listed as containing ethanol, though this is 8th hand info from the net.... so just thought I would check

Channel Seven last night did a really comprehensive test that showed that 91 octane unleaded is the most economical fuel to use as long as your car doesn't require 98.
This was brain snappingly obvious to all but still had a reprise on Sunrise.

Jeez what will they think of next.

Ahh but did u notice, the test was done by buying only $1.00 of fuel not 1 litre. So its more economical, fuel price wise, not fuel volume wise.

Using ethanol in your old out board will probably cause failure to your fuel rubber hoses and the carby rubber gaskets.

I do not believe that it is a requirement to label ethanol content in fuels in NSW if the percentage is less than 10%. Part of the state's drive to increase the amount of ethanol used.

Bugger, that's the kind of thing I was afraid of. Would prefer not to have to treat with stabiliser all the time for a small outboard to avoid separation issues ect from half tanks sitting for weeks at a time....but if that is the case I may need to treat as can't be sure if is blended or not.

I think you will find, nationally, it's 5%. It used to be 1%.
NSW must still comply with the national rules.
