Exactly,i would have a petrol on gas any day.
Actually,$ for $,most diesels would cost more to run than a petrol on LPG.
That is for any light commercial vehicle.

Ah but with gas you get to lose either your fuel tank or luggage space in a wagon such as an RRC.

That is what always decided me against it in my RRC as I wanted range AND luggage space so I eneded up fitting a 130L tank.

    Now I have a D2 TD5 with 150 litres with potential 1500Km range.

A lot more expensive things seem to fail on a TD5,
Expensive things like Harmonic balancers, fuel pumps the V8s rarely need these replaced.

I asked how often does one need that range, I doubt the Alice to Marble bar is a daily drive for most people. Places like the Gibb river road are now a place where even commodores are seen on it. The Cape trip, etc, everything is becoming less of a challenge as it it being opened up.
Most of us live on the Eastern seaboard, fuel range is not really a problem, so hence the question how often does one need a 1500km potential range.

    Mario, some do:

Nowak wore diapers on the almost 1,000-mile drive from Houston to Orlando so she wouldn't have to stop, the Sentinel reported.
It would be helpful when visiting WA.

I just asked Siri "Why would I need a big fuel tank?"
That is what she suggested I read.
