    Anzac Day March Melbourne : ABC iview

    The 15 year olds like me are on at 1:17:37 to 1:18:17. Tingira Association ANZAC day march in Melbourne. Few quiet ales at Y&J before, A few after with no one still asking for ID for serving us 15 year olds

    Walked home past Box Hill RSL. Nice president (EX SAS gent) paid for all my refueling drinks. Walked on to Doncaster Hotel and some other mug refused to allow for me to pay again. Still walked home fairly straight.

    I was second last Division in 1984. Like the book touches on I was on ships at 16 years old. I visited 20 different countries before I turned 18.

    I went to three Anzac-related activities and enjoyed them all.
    On Friday we had an Anzac service at the school and it was quite moving. The young'uns mostly seemed interested and respectful, which was interesting as maybe a third of them were not even born in Australia, but they still take it seriously. The disrespectful behavior (not that there was much of it) seemed to come from the Aussie-borns.


    On Sunday at church there was an Anzac theme led by the pastor, a former bikie and serviceman. Was well done. This excellent song was part of the service:

    Yesterday took the grandkids to the main service at Maleny and it was a good turnout. The speaker was a female Navy sergeant who had served in Afghanistan and other places, which was an interesting twist.


    So, respect paid, I think.
