Front tyres..... er, sorry, 'tires' were a Coopers, and I've found them 'exhilarating' in the wet, - despite having a huge tread-depth. - more from the high mileage compound. Add "age" and we don't stand much of a chance!

Seriously, I priced from a few sources...and it terrified me. - working on the assumption that whatever one I bought...i$ going to need an overhaul / bit$ & piece$...

But for mainly on-road use, it makes perfect sense. The BW a.k.a. Spawn of Satan, is only 'exceptional' in the sand, so I'm told.

For my use, an 'open' centre-diff is perfect.

Recalling an earlier bout of madness, I'm 99% sure that the front prop shaft is different to the BW-fitted one. - I've been looking at wrecked D1s and getting "enthusiastic"...

At the moment, IF I buy tyres, they'll be the TyreSales' GOODRIDE / WESTLAKE $142 ones. - At least they'll be...new and soft... yes, I know they have BFGs at a great price...which is still way more than the alternatives... The 'need' is to get new, fresh tyres on all corners, of the same brand and size.

Anyway, I might involve my insurance company, as there appears -at quick glance- some more damage underneath. - ABS sensor wire, and bent steering/suspension parts.

Almost enough to write it off.Be carefull if you like the olde girl

Keep an eye out for Dmax wheels and tires ( 245 70 16"). They have bridgestone 693's from memory. They are pretty much a perfect tire by looking at them for 99% onroad .... but chunky enough you won't get bogged crossing a bit of wet grass

I just picked up a set today ... .Not cheap though as they were brand new with the rubber spikes still on them. The Dmaxs have ugly metal wheels. So the owners must buy them new, drive straight to the nearest tire dealers and sink thousands into big wheels and mud tires. I paid $175 each for them (including fitting and balancing). So expensive.... But they are $255 each if you buy them new.

... At $10K for the W/off... I think I'll be 'dreamin !

Be carefull,they take into account possible drive line damage,automatic write off for elderly vehicles.
