I put an older one in Port Fairy for some cool older dudes ( Mum and Dad) It was a freeby when I made my offices. It died a few years later. The new one is much better Mick. Less gas, heats up much better and much quieter to boot.
Find out what size you need, buy it from the cheapest then pay the plumber to connect it. Takes about an hour tops assuming your ducking is in good nick.
I think I picked up the second unit for about 1200-1500 in melb after shopping around a bit.

I've been pricing replacement burners. $1,900 installed was the latest price.
The thing that got me was the fellow making a bold statement "It's a five star, you'll pay it off in five years with the gas savings over a two star." without understanding or knowing my heating habits. I'm assuming he assumed my heater is in 24/7 and I liked a hot house. I do know people that do this.
Gas is cheap, it's the connection fee that's expensive.

I'm with shane on this one. Reverse cycle A/C is the way to go. We had our whole house ducted for 7G. Its warm. Failing that I have a spare Rinnai Gas heater around here somewhere. If I can find it you can have it. Also a great home heater.
I've got reverse cycle a/c in one room. Don't like it. Rarely use it. It fails on several points.Quote:
