    the ghan and alice springs

Looking at putting the rangie on the train in Adelaide and unloading at alice. Staying in and around alice doing day trips etc then drive home. Have about 2 weeks in September 2017 so weather should be good. Anyone suggest some drives/sights to do?.

    Jc ☺

A tour of his work place is a must see. The transport museum and Ghan museum are both excellent. Particularly the transport museum. The West MacDonnell ranges are very accessible. Palm valley is a bit far for a day trip, but people do it I think. You should consider 2 nights at the Uluru resort and doing trips from there.

The train trip is a 20th anniversary gift to each other☺. Will be on a bit of a budget too so no resorts planned, just enjoying the scenery and big skies!☺☺. Sooo any drives, gorges, monuments, historical must sees etc recommended to see in addition to museums and the like?

If you drive call into woomera and visit the museum there , amazing what rockets have been test fired from there. Can be like a ghost town or a bustling city depends if they are testing or not

Had a great meal in the club there and a great tour with the bloke at the museum.

    Cheers Ean

Check the online booking websites before ruling it out. The pricing was very reasonable when we went.

We did Adelaide to Alice last Easter with a 2 year old and 3 year old in the car. 17 hours. 18 hours home again 4 days later.

There is heaps to see around Alice. We lived there for 4 years. Loads out in the East MacDonnell Ranges that often gets overlooked. Plus all the well known places like Boggy Hole and Rainbow Valley in the west.
