I an using a UHF loaner at the moment but have an old 18 channel UHF SSB unit to fit. The guy who gave it to me claimed he used to pick up people in the simpson desert from canberra with it. I let the smoke out of my AM.

Don't old threads come in handy.:rulez:
Anyway, my question is: Does leaving hand helds with NI-MH batteries in the charger, with the charger "On", damage the batteries over time?
When I'm out & about around the place I have one with me & the other sits in the charger in the kitchen in case of a "Wife to the Rescue" moment.
I just sit mine back in at the end of the day. The charger is never turned off.
