Thread: Census time again

Considering the questions asked, I'd suggest anyone with the cognitive function of a Turtle on Valium should be able to answer what they did that Tuesday...

Let's face it. Either you were home or you weren't. There's no magic questions.
And once you fill in the simple who was there bits, it's all basics.

I wonder how many think it's too much an invasion of their privacy and fill out false info on income and stuff like that.?
To answer the originally posted question, I have now visited hundreds of residences and not one person has raised this as an issue. It is more a question for shock Jocks , big headed politicians and the dreaded civil libertarians who seem to love to help criminals evade the law.

Just like Luke Grant yesterday banging on about the system failure. Get over it and move on.

There will soon be 38,000 people going around to every house that hasn't responded on line with paper forms that also have an on line reference number. Come to think of it , that is probably why the employment figures look good this month.LOL.
    Regards Philip A

ABS have no way of knowing who did and who didn't so they have to assume that information given is from recall.
Lawyers often argue that recall is unreliable. I don't know what Scientists think, but I guess that it would be something similar.
I know that it's nit picking but how rough a rough idea do the ABS want?
As Tombie said, you'd need to be half dead not to be able to answer the questions, even months later. The hardest part if you left it too long and travelled to work by different means would be remembering if you drove to work or caught the bus...

Everything else is who, where you work, what your income is, etc, etc. not rocket science.

As I said, it's nit picking but when the policies come to light based on the 2016 Census, the nit pickers will be out in force.
    Cheers, Billy.

They always are... If it wasn't this, it would be something else.

And when the results of this census are known it will warm the hearts of those who will have plenty of time for some serious meditation on the Monash Fwy, the Ring road, the West Gate, etc tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon, this week, next week, next year and the next.

The census's (censii?) from the 70's and 80, even the 90's, would surely have shown what infrastructure might have been needed but it just turns out now to be crisis maintenance and very costly at that.

A waste of $340 M this time unless the results are taken a bit more seriously now.

Just sent mine in online. Couldn't be easier.

I reckon the questions aren't detailed enough. And if they made it anonymous and asked more detailed questions they'd get a much more useful result.

What they'd do with the result is another matter... There's precious little focus on the disadvantaged these days. All the questions were tailored to the well healed. Nothing about part time work, unemployment, under employment, poor living conditions, health, etc.
