Had a spectacular one coming home from town on Tuesday. On the road home there is a level crossing with just a stop sign, and double lines for fifty metres each way from the crossing. It is immediately after a right turn, so it is impossible to easily see trains coming from the right. And it is one frequently targeted by police for drivers failing to stop; they hide behind some nearby trees.
As I came to a stop, the car behind me, far from stopping, pulled out and accelerated across the level crossing, on the wrong side of the double line, and with tyres smoking. And no, there were no P plates!
