The New Rangie must be a crash magnet. Making a left hand turn into Ferntree gully road from Burwood highway
This happened again at this intersection.
I am the vehicle in marked as Blue, and i always seems to attract people like the Vehicle marked in Red doing this, they miss the turn off and think they will just cut everyone off without looking. This time the vehicle marked in Red just raced out in front of me, i had to slam the anchors on to avoid collision. Followed him about 50 meters further and he was in a hurry to get to Red Rooster.
Guess who's buying a Dash cam now?

It gets better, I am later in Oakleigh on foot a lady and I are crossing a pedestrian crossing, we are half way across the road and a dickhead comes racing out and nearly bowls us both over, we had to jump back out of the way or we would have been hit. We both raised are arms in the air and yelled abuse at the long gone driver. What is it with people?

Same intersection, another time, driver misses left turn so does an illegal turn at intersection , and again we take avoidance action (all traffic on the green light should be traveling straight ahead on that Hwy) If any of us traveling on the slip lane had hit him, I suppose we are in the wrong for failing to give way to our right. I think half of these dickheads are following GPS instructions and don't respond to the prompts until the last minute.

Hi Andy, was looking at this one.
    Blackvue DR650GW-1CH / DR650S-1CH Dash Camera Australia
it looks unobtrusive, I don't like things that hang down on suction caps.
I also want to hard wire it in. I looked at the model which has front and rear cameras, Blackvue DR650S-2CH Dual Camera - Australian Blackvue Dealer but not sure if i want to spend the $ though . I would get one for Heather as well.

    That's the one I have.
It doesn't have a screen,BUT,if you have a smart phone it can display on the phone via wifi.
They say the warranty is void if you don't buy their card as some don't work.
It comes with a 16gb card,I also bought their 64gb card as I wanted warranty. Its simply a class 10 speed card,so just get the 16gb and if you want a bigger one buy a class 10 and it should work.
The shop I bought it from said the other cards do work,as long as they were the high quality ones.

Andy, i don't like things plugged in with leads in cigarette lighter sockets so will wire it into the vehicles system.

On another note I starting to wonder if the Zambesi silver was a good choice of car colour. It might be too hard for other road users to see?
Yesterday traveling on the Calder Hwy at 110 kph in the left lane I was over taken by a falcon, as he passed he immediately cut back into the left lane in front of me, Heather and I screamed as his bumper was 1 meter in front of our bonnet.

Then later on the Monash freeway doing 100kph we had a young woman enters the freeway on an on ramp and she was only doing about 60kph and proceeded to pull out and cross all 3 lanes of oncoming traffic 60kph to get into the right most lane and left all of us traveling at 100kph to severely brake ...

So large silver vehicles must be hard to see.

Possibly Silver might be the new colour for speed camera cars or police unmarked cars as drivers can't see them?

I couldn't be a commercial driver, navigating an ocean of imbeciles.
I was a commercial driver for around 25 years. I've been off the road now for about three months, and the relief is palpable. I dread ever having to go back. The thing about B-Doubles is, if something happens, it happens in a big way. people seem to think that their car is some sort force field protected cocoon. Not when it hits a 26 metre 60 tonne behemoth it isn't. And you live with the thought that it could happen any second, and your life will change forever.

I have never seen the point of a screen on a dash cam. If you ever need the footage for evidentiary purposes you are going to need a bigger display, and you certainly don't want to be watching the thing when you drive...

As for rear facing cams, If i'd had the money I would have fitted one to EACH exterior mirror of the truck as well as forward and side facing. Things don't only come from the front.

If possible, I would want them linked to a GPS, so location and speed could be captured as well.

If you have an incident you can pull over and review/save it.The cam records in 1 min intervals,I believe you can make it 3 mins.It takes some time trying to find a clip buried hours in.Yes the Blackvue records GPS,speed acceleration/deceleration etc.You can also upload to "The Cloud" from the vehicle if you have mobile reception.

Happens to me regularly. People have no idea about braking distance. Or they just don't consider it.
Today we teach people how to get their license, not how to drive.
