Sounds like she had a great time
I've been for a run in a few over the years..
Even driven one..
I am a lifemember of the HSV Owner's Club of Vic, having been a member sinse 1986, so Wifey & I naturally attended the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of the Club held recently, and where Wifey won one of the prizes, the best one actually, which was an "HRT RIDE EXPERIENCE" where you have a ride in an actual HRT racecar around Sandown.
Wifey was thrilled to win, she likes all this sort of stuff, you'd never know it talking to her, but she's a bit of a thrill seeker, having done 19 free fall parachute jumps, bungee jumping, parasailing, trekked Kokoda etc, so she was pretty happy to win this.
So, off we went to Sandown yesterday, where Karen was the second person listed to ride with "G.T." (Garth Tander) in Car 2 (the winning car on Sunday's Sandown 500 ). So she gets suited up, helmet on etc, strapped in & away they go.
Karen got out of the car BEAMING. She said the best part of the ride was going down through the esses, where she said Garth had the car bouncing off the curbs on both sides of the car, apexing etc, just like she sees on the in car stuff on Foxtel, except on this occasion, she was in the car!
We don't know how fast these guys drive on these days, but I think, to some extent, they may do a bit of testing, but one thing's for sure, the brakes on Car 2 were certainly hot when Karen got out,...they were Smokn'...big time.
A fantastic experience. Afterwards we went to Doyles to celebrate (we can walk there!) with some champagne, oysters, and we each had a MAGNIFICENT 250gm medium rare eye fillet washed down with a nice red.
A top day, Pickles.

Imagine how much better it would have been in a Ford.
The drivers are only allowed to run 75% for corporate days, that's still damned quick.![]()

Yes if your a Holden Nutter all fine and im glad she loved it.
I worked for Holden with engineering for 19 years and i hated themTo me it was like working in a chocolate factory and i was sick of them
My good partner has giving me 2 V8 drive days in a Ford of course one at Sandown and One at Bathurst both were the best fun ever but.
Bathurst was it to be able to drive around there at speed even if the cars were only a road tune i still managed 240 k down conrod and at times over the top at 160k
But the best part of the deal was 3 front seat hot lap`s with John Bowe at Bathurst he is a absolute Gentleman and i have a new respect for the man![]()
I won one a few yrs back as well,HRT ride,QLD raceway.
So i get there, suit up,buckle in,and Skaife gets behind the wheel.
First corner comes up bloody quick
Bit of a slide on the second or it may have been the third corner,as he said,'i nearly gyroed it.'
After the third lap,i was getting used to it.
Absolutely fantastic,to say the least
Great day for all.
So the good lady got a good dose of Hormone Replacement Therapy then
Too late in GT's career to start firing a shot, his wife can steer better. She won the Touring Car Masters at Bathurst a few years back in a purple XA GT sedan

There's nothing wrong with GT, He can drive as good as any,...providing He's got a good car under him,....and He's a seriously nice bloke too.
"Holden/Ford" "Nutter"?....Not me, never have been,...I focus & follow a driver.
Early on, I followed Moffat (still admire him), then I bought (wanted to buy a Ford, but there was nothing suitable from Ford to compare with an HDT Commodore in those days!) an HDT Commodore, so became interested in P.B.,..followed him big time, for a long time!!
Followed Craig too, when He went to Ford.
I suppose I've followed Holden the most, definitely influenced by the fact that we've owned a succession Of Brock/HDT, & then HSV, road cars, joined the Club, so naturally there's an influence there.....but like I said, Moffat always looms large in my mind..
Pickles.
He could come across that way, but the reality of it was that Moffat was the first to take a professional attitude to the sport, as opposed to the rest of the field who pretty much considered themselves as a bunch of mates pursuing a hobby.
These days it's not a sport, it's an industry.
